I don't know what is this, but this person seems to be checking some athletes' muscles. While others, like Uchimura, got their biceps or thighs or something such innocent, examined, Dai OF COURSE had to be touched on his ...  affraid Laughing Embarassed drunken .

So many Dai-Goodies! I am chuckling while watching the zipper incident and I laughed so hard
at the woman feeling Dai-chan's butt and the kids statement was hilarious! He surely does not
lead a boring life and he has quite a sense of humor.

He mentions going abroad again but has no definite plans yet, maybe he will do a few
more skating shows.

Thanks ilica, Pattina and DTRTS!

Thanks Pattina!

From noroton tweets https://twitter.com/noroton3 - very big thanks!!!

- (2000days) He is worried about his hairline. May use medicated products now that he doesn't have to follow doping regulations Very Happy
- (2000days) His fashion concept nowadays is "a young dad."
- (2000days) Skating is like a parent, he says. It's something you must grow out of, but eventually come back to.
- (2000days) He knew his fans cheered for him but could not take it straight when he lost his confidence. He and the editor carefully explained that it was all in his mind, and not his fans' fault.
- (2000days) He doesn't have a final plan or location for his stay in the US yet. Hopes to study English and dance, and live a frugal life.
- The program he's skating at the end of the DVD is Time To Say Goodbye. Could not use the music for copyright reasons. Was going to skate it at Sochi Oly but Morozov stopped him. He may or may not skate it in the future, but not at AOI.
- He wants to be referred to as "figure skater Daisuke Takahashi." The title "professional skater" doesn't feel right, he says.

Again, thank you so much!

It's interesting that it was Morozov who has stopped Dai from skating Time To Say Goodbye in Sochi...

Thanks ilica and Pattina for sharing. Very nice comments!

Dai has not decided where to live yet in the US. If he decides on the
East Coast he is welcome to stay at my house in the guest room and
be frugal. (free meals) We have a number of wonderful universities for
him to study his English and quite a few good dance studios (my brother is a
retired ballet dancer and owns a reputable dance studio). If only..... tongue

Shyla.. great idea!! Try skato's advice and invite him!!
But if Dai agrees, be prepared to have a loooooooooooooooooong queue of Aunties outside your door (me first) lol! lol! lol!

On a more serious note: congrats to your brother for having a reputable dance studio.

I don't know if already posted... in this interview after book's presentation, from 0:54 to 1:52 (more or less) Dai is asked if Yuzu was a cause of his retirement.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ajCrhlN1y10

On GS - Fan Fest - Dai's thread, a kind person reported a brief translation. As if you are not member you cannot read, I copy here the comment in addition to providing the link

http://www.goldenskate.com/forum/showthread.php?36246-Daisuke-Takahashi%2Fpage168

He has written a little bit about Hanyu in his book (but I don't know exactly what it is) and the reporter asked him if Hanyu was a factor in his retirement. (not a word for word translation)

He said: I think he was. I can't say he wasn't. I wanted to say he wasn't but I can't.
He had such momentum and such quick growth that it shook me.
Interviewer: Shook you in what sense?

Yabai nanka Yabai! (there is no direct translation for this but can mean 'danger', or 'Oh no', or 'Uh Oh')
Hanyu has the power to command the atmosphere of a place. And he's probably number one in the world right now. I want him to keep going and going.
What is the difference between you?
My face is a bit Latin in style and Yuzu has a very fresh faced look. And styles (also different).

I love Dai's simple and honest attitude, how he exposes himself sincerely. He never lies, he says what he feels, hiding nothing. And how he respects his fellow skaters.

Here is a video on Dai receiving the award and all the jewelry gifts (you can hear the name of various jewelry firms, one is from Milan).  Among them he received a "figure-skating pendant"  Very Happy  Although cameras do not take a close look, jewels seem amazing and full of diamonds, I understand.

MC introduces him as "pro-figure skater"... OK OK I know he is a pro now, anyway it sounded weird to me....

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JGkxPk_vwmY&feature=youtu.be&app=desktop

The other man who received the award wore a very big golden necklace and of course all women had jewels. Dai wore nothing, a part from cufflinks (very sparkling... diamonds?) but he was by far the most "shining" person because his light comes from his soul I love you I love you Look at his icemelting smile...

Hi Everyone.  Thank you for all the updates and latest news.  Dai was looking like quite the supermodel when he accepted his latest award.  It warms my heart that although he’s retired he’s still receiving many (well deserved) accolades.

Shyla:  If Dai declines your offer I was wondering if it would be available to me because I would love your home cooked meals and classes at your brother’s studio.  I’m just kidding.   It would be incredible if you were able to be Dai’s host family and it’s perfect that your brother has his own studio.  I’m very impressed that he is a retired danseur and it’s awesome that he has his own studio.  I know how difficult it is to run and maintain a studio so big kudos to him.  Your hosting offer to Dai sounds crazy, at first, but the more I think about it the more it makes a lot of sense.  I think it would be nice for him to have someone who is familiar with his life back home and would provide a bit of comfort for someone living in a foreign country.  The nearby universities and your brother’s studio are added bonuses.

Pattina:  I was happy to hear that you are prepping a banner for Art on Ice.  It will be here before you know it so I’m very excited for you.

I managed to get a towel from a dear Auntie I'm going to meet in Switzerland.

Dai updated his instagram... but not with a selfie...  Sad   jewel is very beautiful, but I'd prefer Dai-chan

Hi! Sorry for my long laziness.

Today's Sankei EX has his last essay of the series of "Between calmness and passion". It's the last one.  Crying or Very sad  Crying or Very sad

I thought this was like his sincere letter to his fans who he is going to leave soon, trying to explain what he is thinking and how he made up his mind. (2000days is the same)

Sorry again for my poor translation skill!

http://www.sankeibiz.jp/express/news/150127/exe1501271145001-n1.htm
http://www.sankeibiz.jp/images/news/150127/exe1501271145001-p1.jpg

"Between calmness and passion"

Three months has passed since I officially announced my retirement. The life as a competitive skater seems so long ago. I used to have nothing with new year mood as I started to practice from the next day of new year’s day. But this year I enjoyed the new year’s spirit for the first time in many years and it made me realize again I was not a competitive skater anymore. I used to have only a day off per week before but now both Saturday and Sunday are off. I go to practice only when I want. The callus on my foot has disappeared, as well. The fact that no one accuses me when I miss practice, also tells that I’m no longer a competitive skater.

Surprisingly I don’t feel it strange at all to find myself not skating in competitions. I don’t miss them either. I’m glad that a lot of young skaters who can compete at the world level are coming into the scene and simply I’m rooting them.

<The joy to respond the expectation>

After a few ice shows which I plan to skate, I will stay away from figure skating and go to US. to train myself for a while. Because the most important purpose is to master English, I’m not going to limit the length of the stay. I’m still searching which city to go but the reason why I chose US. is that I will be able to take dance lessons, experience art and stages and get stimulated by its diverse culture and people, as well as its livability.

As my personality is dependent and passive and plus I lack social experiences, I want to acquire the ability to take action and judge, which make me enable to act positively without any hesitation, by putting myself in the tough situation. I won’t put “skate” as a purpose in my mind, and want to review fundamentally my feeling toward skating.

In fact, I occasionally suspected if I really liked skating in the last two years of my competitive career. I think, I competed for the joy to meet the expectation, more   than pure love for skating. Probably due to it, I lost my confidence by thinking of the change of the expectation and times too much, and consequently I couldn’t raise my motivation. I think it accelerated the retirement. After Sochi, my heart was burned out and motivation toward skating never comes back. I think I should better move away  from skating once in order to redeem my lost confidence.

<Empty myself and the next step>

I left all of  my honest thoughts in my book “2000days” this time. There might be harsh parts for readers and fans, but by letting out all of my real feelings into the book, I can empty myself and take a next step finally. Now I’m feeling clear and light, since I’ve come to be able to speak publicly my honest feelings after the book went on sale.

It was fun to skate in front of the people in the some ice shows which I took part in after I retired. I can do it most naturally among the various jobs. But I feel fit better with the title “figure” skater, not “professional” skater as I just want to enjoy it during the short period before I go to US. I think the real change of myself will begin after I go there. I can’t change unless I go to train myself. So at this moment I want to behave just as my heart leads and I don’t think the title is important. I don’t have a certain image of my future at all. Of course I have anxiety. But  I have a strong will to change and my expectation for “to change” is bigger. I want to find something I can do with the same amount of energy which I used to spend as a athlete.  Something  worthwhile in the true meaning and I can face faithfully.

< To know about losing >

My competitive life over 20 years has passed so fast, especially the last 10 years when I was very aware as an athlete was something beyond my imagination. All those years are my special assets which formed my present self. If I hadn’t done the sports, I wouldn’t have even traveled to Tokyo and would have lived looking down gloomily. (laugh)

What is a good thing that I continued to compete, is “to know about losing.” As I’ve learned gradually that there are times when you won’t be rewarded even if you work as hard as you can, I think I can work patiently without giving up easily in my future life.

Thank you very much for reading this serial essay for four years after Vancouver. It was just the same as the title “Between calmness and passion”. You shouldn’t be too calm but also you shouldn’t be too passionate, either. I’ve been thinking the most difficult part is to move forward with balancing them properly. This serial essay finishes this time. However I have a feeling that everything is finishing one by one like this, I think it’s better to eliminate everything like “bang!” in order to take a next step.

I can’t see you for a while on this paper, but see you again someday.

-End-

So thank you Dai-chan for everything! And Good Luck!!!  I love you
