Do you remember the fund-raising campaign to save Rinkai Sports Centre Ice Rink in Osaka?
They already collected over 150 milion yen! Shocked

I thought that happened so fast thanks to someone's very generous and anonymous donation.

I'm so happy with the news!!

Yes, hsuhs, I believe there is someone who recently donated about 130 million yen (US$1.5-1.6 million) anonymously only stating 'to keep the children happy'. Amazing....

The rest was about 7 million yen, (US$ 80,000+) at the time and very quickly reached to the goal after, probably encouraged by that selfless act.

cheers

Here's a new message from Daisuke about the fund-raising campaign.
He's also confirming he's currently training in the US, or at least that's what I'm led to believe by google translate Wink

Hi, huys. Dai is keeping to be highly demanded by J-media. In the interview to the recent Figure Skating 2012-2013 Guidebook Asahi taken before JO (pics, dude looks cool!: http://twitpic.com/e/2jir ) he again said about his plan to win GPF in Sochi. It's the medal that he still doesn't have. He also wants to "taste" the future Olympic ice. The results of Chan last season was one of the factor that made him include two quads in FS. He wants to win and currently is planning his route step-by-step to the OGM. In the short interveiw to TV LIFE taken after JO (pic: http://twitpic.com/b78hz2 ) he also added that JO showed that two quads in FS is a mandatory requirement since the level of the current Men's skating is very high. He wants in his new progs to show the new world of him: in Rockabilly it's fun and "Pagliacci" in his FS is an opera music of a big scale, so should be his skating he said.
Dai is very serious farao .

Thanks for the updates let's talk. You know I commend Dai for putting 2 quads in
the FS but on the other hand I do worry about the injury factor not just for Dai but
for the other skaters as well.

The way I see it is a skater can execute 2 quads cleanly and garner massive points but
the other parts of his program are not so good. Because of the 2 quads that skater could win over IMO a better skater say with one quad. No one knows this better than Dai and in order to win that is what he has to do. Although it leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Do you know if Dai is back in Japan?

If Daisuke wants to win GPF this year, he surely will.

Theoretically, that could happen. Although in SA last week the only skater with 2 clean quads in FS was 29 yo Menshov, who ended up not only off the podium (4th overall), but also barely above Jeremy Abbott who had a very weak free skate.

I was trying to make a point that, apparently, the bar's set very high these days. It's as if ISU expects their male skaters to have 2 quads + all other jumps done perfectly + complex programs in terms of PCS, in order to win.

In FT earlier this month, Yuzuru Hanyu was the only skater with 2 clean quads in FS. His TES was however lower than that of Richard Dornbush's, Hanyu won FS thanks to higher PCS.

It will be interesting to see how SC competition's scored this weekend though.

Thanks let's talk!

I just read that Dai's layback spin at JO was the first male level 4 layback (Lsp4) in COP history! It is not official, but still pretty cool Cool

Yep, the way I see it, it's about willpower, first and foremost.
I expect Daisuke to be willing to do his best in GPF, to me he sounds motivated to do so.
