hsuhs, you were right about Dai in CoC and NHK.
Sorry for Genki.
Yep, Yuzuru in NHK and SA.
JSF use their opportunity for 3 home spots.
For me will be interesting in Rostelecom Cup-men, ladies, CoC - pairs, ladies, ice dance.
Wow, this season CoC rocks.
Ando and Weir is back. So glad!

Twind, I'm sorry you and Genki won't get to see Daisuke in the States.

Is there any chance for you two to travel to Shanghai? (I found it an interesting and nice city when I was there for a vacation).

Lil wrote:

Yes, that must be it. I see Orser's other students are assigned to NHK as well (Gedevanishvili, Fernandez). It's easier for all involved, logistics-wise.

Hmm... Is it an affect of video or Dai indeed looks a little tired? He is slower, with mistakes and there are only a few smiles on his face. It wasn't like that in Yokohama when I watched him live.

Dai, take a holiday! sunny

Oh, Twind, so you was going to go to SA.
Such a pity.
Could you guys go to 4CC 6-17 February in Osaka?
I'm already excited.
There is something special in shows and competitions in Japan.
I wonder what's the new competition Medal winners open October 5.
Japan open is next day. So my guess is they've desided to split pro/am skaters. If so, I will be very glad. Can't wait to see it.

By the way, this season Worlds will be 10-17 March. (I wish you second gold medal for your birthday, Dai!) well, a person can dream, no? :-D
Then we will close the season with WTT in Tokyo! (April 11-14)

Ok, back to Earth.
I wonder, why SA two seasons in a row did choose Kozuka over Dai?

Hi,
I was just reading an interesting statistic about the cost of sport facilities: skating is one of the most expensive sports. In all nations, including USA, there are many rinks closed, because the costs are greater than the gains and this prevents many young people skating.
What a shame! A sport so beautiful!
Bye, Osan

Osan, is football as popular in Italy as it used to be years ago?
It seems, like youngsters prefer modern sport like snowboarding, surfing, parcur, etc.
Figure skating need an artistry too, not only athletic abilities, quite old-fashioned sometimes, but I love it.
So bitter feeling, people seem to like even curling more than Figure skating.

Dai's "okkaasama" accepting an award on his behalf?
Can you guys please shed more light on what this is exactly? Google is not helping much!

Sorry for those hoping Dai would be assigned to SA. Maybe we can all go to China instead? Very Happy

I wish. It is not as bad as I thought, though. $850 round trip from Seattle. Hotels are cheap.

Anyway, if I give up one designer bag, this is doable.

Returning to Dai's mon.

She was accepting a special award for Dai from Okayama prefecture.
Governor Ishikawa said," Dai has touched people's heart, successfully landing quads overcoming injury."

Dai's mon said that young Dai was always jumping and rotating himself at home as well as on a school trip. She said that Dai has become what he is now thanks to support from people. She believes that Dai will continue to work hard till Sochi.

Thank you for your translation, Genki! cheers sunny

I'm pleasantly surprised the city officials pay close attention to Daisuke's career & follow figure skating.

I love it when Mrs. Takahashi wears a kimono when she attends a meeting like that. What a understated and elegant look.

I've been to different parts of China couple of years ago, and it was absolutely worth it. What a fascinating country.

Shanghai is huge! affraid Are there hotels in the area close to the arena, available for booking?
I was there in October, and the weather was hot and sunny sunny I have very pleasant memories associated with the city and still wear jade bracelet hubby bought me in the Jade Buddha Temple .

Yes, Lil
football is always the most popular sport in Italy and consequently the media are prevalently interested in football. You can see on TV and in newspapers Carolina of course (especially when she wins), but generally skating is not very popular. Quite popular in Italy:cycling, tennis, formula 1(Ferrari) and fortunately skiing (in the north).

I love Italian football, but unfortunately, not been broadcast to us. Sad
We are also the most popular sport of football, just what football is dead., But not yet buried. It is very boring!
Other sports disciplines but do not address.
The figure skating only exists in the dictionary.

I am sorry that you are sad fact that Daisuke will not start in Seattle!
I too am sad with you.

We here in Hungary has never seen a figure skating competition, Daisuke is starting amine. Unfortunately, this never will be.

Even the wonder that in 2014 in Budapest will be the European Championship.
At least then we will see in a figure skating competition. What other times not.
Although still a long long time and many things can happen.

Genki, I'm glad you plan to go to CoC.
Shanghai look interesting too.

Osan, so no empty stadions for football? Cool.

Chris, if you going to watch European championship live, then pairs and ladies dicsiplines are especially worth to watch. Young russian ladies show much promise.

Hi there

It's a phenomenon - I've only been away for a couple of days and so many comments "piled up" :-))

First of all, I'm sorry to hear that Seattle is not on for Dai-chan :-( Sorry to all those who had high hopes for it!

I'm happy I could watch the programme "Sweat" :-))) Very fast skating, many interesting and nice moves ... and funny to see that Dai-chans keeps "kissing" the ice :-))) But what happened to the mambo video? Youtube says it was removed :-( A pity ...

Lovely to see Dai-chan's mom in a kimono and receiving an award for Dai-chan :-))

Thank you all for the links to these lovely photos, videos etc. :-))) It's always so good to see Dai-chan's smiling face :-))) I really love his wrinkles at the eyes when smiling/laughing :-)))

Cheers
Gudrun.

Cheers,

Hi Peepsrule:
It was fun in Colorado. Yes, I am contemplating still, not decided yet.
But here's the info re coc that I got from a Japanese Dai-hard fan.

Even if your seat is the first row, it is very far from the ice.
when you see the comp till the end, there is no public transportation nor taxis.

There is a tour from Japan, the most expensive with vip seat and official hotel for 5 days were around 130.000yen. or $16oo.

I thought that price is so inflated, because ticket itself is only $100.I can do $1500 from here including a nice hotel if I can share a room.

Anyway, I will Pm you when I decide.
