Hello Lil

Yes, this is what Wikipedia says: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eiskunstlauf-Weltmeisterschaft_2012

They list the years and places of the Worlds.

Canada is nice, so worth a trip anyway :-)

Thank you guys for your posts and translations I love you

Are music suggestions still accepted?

There's this very well known song called Moon River. It's rather old, there's thousands versions of it, including different instrumentals. But I can SO see Daisuke skating to it Very Happy
Can this song be considered classic? I think so.

According to the news below,

*Dai-chan has started on-ice training since last week and will start jump training next week.
*His new SP will be choreographed by David Wilson!!, who he has wanted to work with for some time.
*He will work on new programs from July.

miyu, thank you for the news cheers

I have ambivalent feelings about David Wilson's choreo.

(For those who didn't follow other mens' skating last season, Wilson choreographed Jeremy Abbott's LP, Adam Rippon's both programs, Brian Joubert's LP, just to name a few).

Yet, I trust Daisuke's taste. Besides, I'm sure it's going to be a complex, demanding, filled with in-betweens program.

I also hope Pasquale will come up with something surprising.

Can't wait for the new skating season to start! bounce Good!!

And Sean Sawyer, I guess... Correct? Among those guys, I liked Jeremy's FP and Sean's SP & FP.

You're right, miyu! I just checked, Sean's ISU bio credits both David Wilson and Marie-France Dubreuil (former Canadian ice-dancer).

Brian Joubert and Daisuke Takahashi will both be spending time in Toronto this summer working with David Wilson on new programs. Wilson recently choreographed Takahiko Kozuka's new short program.

Wilson took too many top skaters this year, I don't like this much.

Hello hsuhs

You're welcome :-)

When I read the text I just couldn't imagine Dai to be "overbearing" since I imagine him to be a very sensitive guy who would feel what would be the right thing to do. But I am sure he'll be fine one day :-)

Cheers

Thank you for the information, all. Very Happy
I've just read his latest interview at Japanese fashion magazine "MORE" August issue.
Daisuke said "I'm not thinking to marry someone yet. Because my first priority is skating now. Beside this, I would like to learn dancing and English this year."
I'm very impressed that he's growing up to be strong and he is not 16 year's old "glassed heart" boy I've known anymore. Wink

Hello Leode

Thank you for the information!

I think it is a very wise idea to learn English first and dancing as well. He's still very young so he should do what he likes to do ...

Sounds like a great plan!

Thank you for translating that tidbit, Leode! flower

Hopefully, there will be news reg Daisuke's SP music, soon.

I just found another beautiful piece of classic music that could suit Daisuke's skating. But this is a pop version and it includes vocals:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kruxR9IkPRk&feature=youtu.be&t=25s

I'm sure you guys heard it before. It's Verdi's Va' Pensiero.

PostSubject: Re: Post-Worlds news 2011   Tue Jul 05, 2011 12:25 pm

Hi guys! Thank you for all the updates and information.

FP: Pasquale Camerlengo was confirmed in Sankei EX issued on 2 July.

I bought and read Dai-chan's Soul Up and Soul Up Exhibition. Embarassed The both books are really fun to read, and also include a loooooooooooot of wonderful pictures, including a funny portrait of Pasquale drawn by Dai-chan. Wink So I think you can enjoy them even if you can't read Japanese.

One impressing story from Soul Up and EX, when the accident happened in FP in 2011 Moscow WC, Utako-sensei immediately realized that it was his skating boot, not an injury or something. She ran back to the locker room to take the equipments to repair it. She ran so fast with high-heeled boots, that she sprained her ankle on the way. But the equipments were already ready at the rink side when Dai-chan got off the ice. This is the reason why he came back on the ice within only 3 minutes. (Utako-sensei was great as always! cheers )

In fact they checked his boots in the morning practice, 6minutes practice of the final group and just before his performance so he said it was just a unfortunate accident.

He also talked (?) about the relationship between him and music. What he doesn't like or he feels uncomfortable most is to miss or be late for notes of music. He also often confronts the dilemma between music and required elements and feels frustration as a competitive skater.

(BTW, He wrote this later in the book. "Honestly speaking, I don't want do donut (spins)! Ugly and it isn't a donut, definitely! For me, it's like I'm grabbing my edge because I'm told so, rather than I'm doing a donut spin. (laugh) I can never call it a donut spin." Laughing Laughing )

For him, he is one of instruments of music, rather than an actor who perform a story of music. When he skates, he indulges in the music he skates to but never in himself. It's like he falls in love with the music. The moment he can unite with the music, he feel a sort of ecstasy , similar feeling between a boy and a girl.

After I read those book, I felt 2010-11 season was really tough for Dai-chan both mentally and physically. Even he didn't say much about it but I think the collision in GPF affected pretty much especially in GPF and JNC. He wrote he found the edge was partially dropped after that (this meant he needed to change his boots to new ones before JNC.) and he lost his body balance. No

But it's really interesting that it seemed the all things that happend throughout 2010-11 season led him to the decision to Sochi. (Do you think, a serious collision, an earthquake and a boot acctident in one season is likely to happen? ) And he sounds very positive even he expect the three years ahead from now would be kind of tough in every way! sunny sunny

Tha last words from him in Soul Up is

"However it would be a tough road to go, I want to be a skater who can have the people around believe like "Yes, I will go along with the man."

GO Dai-chan!! sunny sunny

I read somewhere that if there will be requests to translate it them to english they might do so.
But I don`t know where to write it. Sad

Utako-sensei was great as always!
Yeah, she`s like his guardian angel. I love you
Thank you, Utako-sensei!

What can I say?
Dai-chan is Dai-chan.
I think his attitude & style made a huge influence to figure skating.

I hate donut spins too.
Razz
He never did it, if I`m not mistaken, 4CC was first time.
He was forced to do it in order to up his spins level. Crying or Very sad
I hope that after rehab. his spins at least will return to level of Torino worlds, when all of them were level 4, even being not as complicated, as other`s.

For him, he is one of instruments of music, rather than an actor who perform a story of music.

This explains why Daisuke's skating so musical, he feels and really hears the music when he skates. I guess this is what attracted me in his skating in the first place, back in 2006. I couldn't put it into word, but felt the magic.

Honestly speaking I`m a little bit disappointed to read it.
I mean Nobu`s photos from wedding ceremony & his kid is so cute.
I hope to see Dai`s too. Embarassed

Hi Lil

I do understand that it would be nice to see Dai like this but just let him find the right one for him first :-) Somehow I have the feeling that he is not in for it, yet. However, I am sure he would let participate everyone in his happiness when he has found the right one :-)
