Wow, jazz is COOL.

Definitely jazz is always COOL! It’s tough indeed to choose one music. In any case I` d prefer dramatic, strong program, rather than funky jazz.

hsuhs, it`s very beautiful. For this music I imagine elegant, pensive, even melancholic program. But may be it suits more to excebition (like “Nocturne”).
I like “Cotton club”, because it suppose to be program, more interesting to express/to see. Like the story about cynical, hard person, who lost his soul, with no past & future, but even for him there is still hope to find or rediscover his heart… But in other hand Dai with his “rich expressiveness” (c) could reveal different character to each performance (for example, his “Eye” in Olympics, worlds & Dreams on ice` 2008 – three different feelings).

Thank you for the information about his choreographers, miyu and also thanks for sharing your favorite music, DTFF members!
I found the same Italian article at Art On Ice.

Takahashi rimanda l’intervento chirurgico al ginocchio
http://www.artonice.it/?q=it/node/9171

According to the article, Daisuke will work with Shae-Lynn(SP), Pasquale(FP) and Kenji(EX??) as miyu wrote!

Shizuka Arakawa also skated to this song (but it's not her version) at "Friends on Ice" two years ago. I want to see Daisuke's "Cry Me A River". It's realy great song and especially, love Julie's voice. I think Prince team skated to Michael Bublé's version at Price Ice World. It was really nice!

I've run out of recommendations for jazz but how about some Japanese styled music?

Anyone heard of Keisho Ohno? He plays one of those traditional Japanese instruments but combines it with contemporary instruments like drums and such.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l61PdBT0nPg

I'm not very familiar with him, but discovered his music by chance. What do you guys think?

Hi:

Stephen is going to skate to Jazz too.
I know he retired, but here's the documentary aired about developing his new program.
The song is by Ray Charles, "Let's good time role."

http://www.tsr.ch/emissions/preliminaires/1922236-stephane-lambiel-figure-libre.html

Can anybody translate?

Hi! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

I've also been wondering whether Big band music would be suitable.
Big band is an ensemble associated with playing jazz music rather than being a type of jazz, so I think it counts too?
Sing, Sing, Sing - Benny Goodman: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fhyhP_5VfKM
Big band jazz is gorgeous! Very Happy
I like Sing, Sing, Sing and it will suit Dai-chan very well but..... I'm afraid it's just too popular in figure skating. silent Is there a good big band music which isn't overused? Rolling Eyes

Leode and Genki, both "Cry me a river" and "Stardasut" are great jazz standards!! Very Happy
Then how about this? "Cry me a river" reminds me of this song. (Or is this a blues??)

Nina Simone: Feeling Good
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJA69C6SlRk
I think Johnny used this song as his EX a few years ago.
Of course I especially like this version. tongue

In case he uses Japanese instrument music, as Euphoria suggested before, I think Yoshida Brothers are nice. Cool
I've tried to listen to their songs on youtube. These are which I like.

Yoshida Brothers: Storm (Euphoria's suggestion)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1fTbDJiyrM
Yoshida Brothers: Fuyu no Sakura

Yoshida Brothers: Nikata

Thank you, Genki! cheers I enjoyed it (even I coudn't understand except the words like 'aujourd'hui' ). Especially to see how Stephane and Sarome Brunner co-worked was interesting. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished program. Is Stephane going to choreograph programs for some skaters, isn't he? It's also exciting! (I hope some of them are top skaters who will participate in international competitions, otherwise we won't be able to see them.... Neutral )

BTW, is there anyone who wants to see Dai-chan skating to a piece of classical music? Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

I want. I'd like to see a kind of noble program from him once agin, like Rachmaninov Piano Concerto (05-06) and Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto(06-07).
As I wrote in my first post here, I love to see him skating Rachmaninov Symphony No.2 Mvt3 or Bach's Chaconne. Embarassed Embarassed
But I'm also wondering if more masculine music would suit him now, like Dvorak's From the New World or Sibelius's Finalandia. Rolling Eyes

Espesially spins matched the most. I also like Dai`s skating to "Romeo &Juliet"
In classic there are so many variations! Let`s think.

Thanks a lot for "Summertime". I love this tune so much.

Then this Misty thing.

What about famous Jazz "misty."

So classic and so beautiful.
I wonder whether Dai is going for classic Jazz or mordern Jazz.
I love classic

Hi, Genki! Very Happy
Yes, this Misty is also beautiful.
But. Daisuke is still young. That`s why I love to see him skating some modern & powerful, expressive music.
As Robbie Williams has told when you will become the old, deserved veteran, you presume to yourself to sit on a scene on a chair with a guitar and to sing slow sad songs. Smile
What about this version of Roxanne? I love this song so much!

Hi Lil:

I know he is so young, but I can not help keep on introducing classic old Jazz. It is just my taste.

I also know that Dai is interested in Ballroom dancing, which I dance by the way.
This is not Jazz, but most beautiful rumba that I found on youtube.
Hopefully, Dai dances like this guy(Slavik, my dance hero.) sometime in the future. (Just my dream)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mb7NJYa3P48&feature=related

Enjoy
