PostSubject: AEGON Challenge Cup   Wed Feb 11, 2009 3:39 am

I’m not surprised if you guys have never heard of it. It's an international competition, which will take place in The Hague, the Netherlands, March 4-8.

Here's a list with last year's results:
http://www.challenge-cup.com/upload/kunstrijden/373/uitslagen/index.htm

There were Japanese skaters there in 2008. (Daisuke was at the time in the Netherlands as well, as he was preparing for Worlds, but I don't know if he was in the audience. He probably was too busy practicing).

This year's entries are rather interesting, since they include Brian Joubert, Samuel Contesti, Yannick Ponsero and Jenna McCorkel (if none of them withdraws). There is also a possibility that Kristoffer Berntsson and Kevin van der Perren will join the club.

The Cup will be the last rehearsal before Worlds.

Thank you, hsuhs! Very Happy
I know this competition because Akiko skated there last year.

It's hard to say, miyu. scratch

Right now they list the following guys as competitors (page 3):
http://www.knsb.nl/upload/kunstrijden/kunstrijden2009/583/competitors.pdf

I keep checking news, but there's been no announcements reg withdrawals.

I'm not sure if I'm going, maybe I will maybe I won't. I like French and Swedish male skaters, have a lot of respect for Kevin van der Perren, but I am not a die-hard fan.

Thank you for your reply, hsuhs. Very Happy
If you go, enjoy it and let us know your impression. I love you

I can find some Japanese skaters' names in the list you posted. But no seniors.... I know only Daisuke Murakami, Kanako Murakami and Shoma Uno. Do you know Shoma Uno? He is a charming little skater.

BTW, (it's off topic though) I was moved by Adam's FP performance at JWC. I'm happy to see his great skate after a tough time for him. Very Happy Very Happy

Oh sure, if I go, I'll try to remember things and to take pics.

I've never heard of Shoma Uno yet, I'm afraid. In that youtube video he looks very promising though! albino (OT: But I've discovered Yuzuru Hanyu recently Smile And OMG he's so talented).

As for the withdrawals, I'm reading Brian Joubert won't be at AEGON silent , but KvdP's official site now says Kevin is going for sure alien

Adam is an interesting young skater who now also lands 3A's. Good for him!

I found some articles in french.
It seems it's nothing serious. So Brian will go to Worlds without problems. I really hope so!

It was a nice competition sunny (Too bad, too many withdrawals).

Yes, Samuel CONTESTI won, and Jamal OTHMAN medaled bounce

Yannick PONSERO made too many mistakes, but still was quite enjoyable to watch (he had the best program of the evening, in my opinion).

As we were approaching the arena, the first skater I saw was a tiny guy in Team Japan black-and-gold gear. I think it was Shoma Uno albino flower I considered it a good sign sunny

WOW! Shocked Congratulations!! cheers
He keeps himself in good shape really well. He could be in the final group in FP at L.A. Worlds. Wow! Cool

BTW I checked his ISU bio and found a couple of familiar names there.
Quote :
Coach: Geraldine Zulini, Peter Grütter
Choreographer: Geraldine Zulini, Pasquale Camerlengo
Peter Grütter & Pasquale Camerlengo. Shocked Shocked Interesting! Cool
