TEB is going to be really interesting. For the men, it will be a huge factor in determining who makes the Final. Evan Lysacek especially will be waiting for these results. Of course there is Brian and Alban making their season debut. I hope Brian got his blade problems sorted out. In the ladies, there's the anticipated debut of Mao. I'm especially looking forward to that.

Will you be going, anne-marie?

Thank you for TEB information, anne-marie.

I hope Brian will win. It's time that a veteran wins a gold, I think. I'm looking forward to seeing Mao's new programs, too. Joannie skated wonderfully with great confidence at SC (I love her FP!), so I'm interested in how she will fight Mao.

annne-marie answered the same question of mine. I will copy it here.

I am not happy at all. I can't attend the TEB and I can't watch figure skating on TV because I live now in New Zealand/ I have 4 channels specialized in sports, and there are only rugby, football, nothing in figure skating ... for 2 weeks now I can't watch youtube videos... Mad Evil or Very Mad No
It's a pity.. I think New Zealand is a beautiful place to live but maybe not good for figure skating fans.Neutral

an article : http://www.lequipe.fr/Ski/breves2008/20 … chard.html
Joubert revanchard the revenge !
Brian said that the trophée Bompard is quite the most important competition for him this season, because he missed it last year(because his virus) , because it is in Paris, and because Eric Bompard (cashmere clothes) is his sponsor ... He wants revenge! His problems with the blades are not completely solved..;?????He is not anxious whith the jumps and is well prepared.
His free program will include 2 different quads and 2 triplesAxel. He will be happy to go back to Moscow. He wanted to add China and Japan at his grand prix list but not this year, because Buttle was scheduled to do China, and Japan is too far and too losed to the national french championships. Another time!
His goal in South Corea is to win. Figure skating starts developing there because
His goal is the podium at the European and world championships. But he doesn't intend to skate at 100% ..reserving himself for the Vancouver, in order to be ready on the D day, and maybe he will repeat there 3 quads...

Thanks for the article, anne-marie. It's too bad Brian is still having blade issues but his jump content sounds very ambitious! I find it interesting that he scaled back his goals for Euros and Worlds this year though. I guess he sees that the pre-Olympic world champion usually doesn't end up winning the Olympics.

NHK will be earlier next season so maybe he can go then (unless he ends up in the same seeding group as Daisuke).

Maybe I should have worded that better. I know it's a superstition but I was trying to say that maybe Brian believes in it to a degree.

The ladies short featured a lot of errors at the top as well. Mao popped the second jump on her combo and doubled her lutz. Joannie Rochette missed her combo and Caroline Zhang missed her double axel.

Patrick was awesome today! No problems at all and his jumps looked amazing in the air. Despite the spin problem, Takahiko did well also. I still think he has one of the most enjoyable shorts this season. If Brian was able to do his combo, he'd probably be first but I don't like his program at all.

Swandie. I agree with you!
I think Patrick and Takahiko have the best short programs among men so far, (we haven't seen Dai's one! Wink ), also better then Weir and Lysacek...
They are really elegant.
I fully agree also on Joubert... I don't like his short at all... I find that the initial movements are almost embarrassing Rolling Eyes ... they should be better in an exhibition program.
BTW I hope Brian can do his best in FP.

Off the record, Dai has the best short but we can't count him until at least NHK. Smile I'm very fond of Takahiko's short because it's a perfect fit for him. I didn't think Patrick and Takahiko would become major contenders this soon but here they are.

I think Brian's program lacks substance for a competitive program. I do hope though that he can skate a good free.

Congratulations to Chan and Kozuka! alien Now they're in the GPF!
Chan had the best PCS! Very Happy I think he deserves it, more than Brian...
Kozuka had the best TES! Very Happy and it's a great score if we think he fell on a jump...

glorydave, Takahiko fell on his quad attempt. It got downgraded but he had a lot of level 3s and 4s on his spins and steps. Despite the fall, Takahiko skated wonderfully. Still, Brian got slightly higher PCS than Takahiko. Patrick had a couple of step outs but he was amazing. It was so much better than Skate Canada.

I like Brian's free program better than his short and I'm so glad he tossed that fugly costume he wore at French Masters. His triple loop was downgraded and he fell on it so he only got 0.65 for it. That was most likely the difference. Evan Lysacek might still have a shot at the final. I thought it would be certain by the end of this but it's not. If Brian doesn't place in the top 2 at Cup of Russia, Evan will trump him.

I see a real shake up going on here. Patrick and Takahiko are rising fast and it seems like the other top men can't keep up with them. Jeremy Abbott and Stephen Carriere are also on the rise. It's going to be fun to watch and see how the rest of the season plays out.

I'd say they can't keep up with themselves. The last season's champions should do something with their motivation or nerves, as soon as possible.

Ladies Final Standings:
1. Joannie Rochette
2. Mao Asada
3. Caroline Zhang
4. Candice Didier
5. Bebe Liang
6. Binshu Xu
7. Elene Gedevanishvili
8. Anastasia Gimazetdinova
9. Emily Hughes
10. Gweldoline Didier

Mao struggled quite a bit. She popped both her salchows: one into a double and the other was a half rotation I think. The technique changes may hurt her before they start to help. Joannie did an excellent job today although Skate Canada was better. Caroline did much better than she did at SC and is smiling more than she was then.
