I was going but my school schedule changed and now I have class on Fridays until 1:30. I thought about going anyway but there aren't that many flights that fly to Ottawa from where I go to school. I was really looking forward to going especially since my chances of going to Worlds is slim to none. Sad

I read some news about Lambiel. He had an injury and it seems his partecipation to GP is uncertain! Shocked
Here his site: http://www.stephanelambiel.ch/

I really hope he can work hard and be ready for Skate Canada!

I read on FSU (a couple posters posted articles in French and German) that he's fine now and that he should be able to compete at Skate Canada. The official site might have been behind in posting the news about the injury.

There is a rumor that Tessa Virtue is suffering from shin splints so her and Scott Moir's participation in SC might be in jeopardy. I hope she's ok and that they'll make it to the Grand Prix.

Hey Leode:
I was missing you on this forum for the past few weeks.
Were you on holiday?

I'll be glad to report on the Sk. Can. event.

I can't go to Canada this time, but I want to, next year!
Sorry to hear that, swandie. Sad I know how you wish to go there.

Maybe you & swandie can come to Canada for either the 2010 Olympics or to our 2010 Canadian Nationals.

Skate Canada made a big announcement today Mon. Sept. 22/08 that my city London Ontario will host the 2010 Can. Nationals.

I hope that all skaters can participate in each competitions without injury.

Hope to see you at a rink someday.

Stephane Lambiel has withdrawn from SC as well as TEB. He is calling a press conference to announce something. I'm thinking either retirement or he's taking the year off like Chris Mabee.

Thanks swandie for the news.

I'm curious that another high level male skater is holding a press conference to make a mysterious announcement.

I am dissappointed that another high level male skater won't be at Sk. Can. Sad
1st Jeff Buttle
2nd Christopher Mabee
3rd Stephane Lambiel.

Also Kiira Korpi in the Ladies' catagory is scratched.
Apparently due to a long time injury.

Here is link to the report on Kiira & her injury:

Stephane's making his big announcement on Thursday. I really hope he isn't retiring but if it's what he has to do to protect his body, so be it. The men's field definitely won't be the same without him.

I wish Kiira a good recovery from her injury. And I hope there are no more withdrawals from the Grand Prix...especially due to injury (although we don't know the status of Kevin van der Perren...he's supposed to be at Skate America next week so hopefully he'll be ok).

swandie:

What is wrong with Kevin van der Perren?
I see he had to withdraw from Finlandia but I don't know why.
Are you saying he is injured?

Thank you

Langlois & Hay pull out of Skate Canada
&
Singles skater Christopher Mabee to take season off.

Reigning Canadian pairs champions Anabelle Langlois and Cody Hay withdrew Friday from the Oct. 30-Nov. 2 Skate Canada event in Ottawa.

Meanwhile, Canadian singles skater Christopher Mabee announced he's taking the season off.

Langlois, 27, underwent surgery in July to repair a spiral fracture in her lower right fibula suffered during a practice session. She received a clean bill of health from her surgeons on Oct. 9, but is still a few weeks away from resuming a full training load.

Thanks yukisnowflake for the news.

Wow, what's with all the injuries this season? It's getting a little crazy! I hope Anabelle has a good recovery and that she and Cody are back on the ice soon.
